More than 1,000 free Pap-tests performed in the scope of the pilot project for cervical cancer screening

The pilot project for cervical cancer screening continues to be implemented successfully as the first pilot project of its kind in the level of the primary health care, in the Municipality of Prishtina. Since its launch in July, this project enabled the free screening of more than 1000 women in three family medicine centers in Prishtina, specifically in the Main Family Medicine Center in Qafa, Family Medicine Center 5 in Ulpiane, and Family Medicine Center 5 in Bregu i Diellit.

This success stems from the increased interest of women to perform Pap-tests and the vigorous work of the medical staff in the Centers and the Institute of Pathology at the UCCK.

In continuity of its implementation, all women in the Municipality of Prishtina are invited to do their Pap-smears for free. Promotional materials with information on testing centers and schedules are distributed in all Family Medicine Centers, while interest women can also refer to the informative video on social media.

This pilot project is a result of the cooperation between the Department for Health and Social Welfare in Municipality of Prishtina, National Board for Cancer Control, Main Family Medicine Center in Prishtina, Institute of Pathology at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo, Action for Mothers and Children, 700 for Science Foundation, World Health Organization-office in Prishtina and the United Nations Population Fund-office in Prishtina.
