Action for Mothers and Children (AMC) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dr. James C. Strickler, Co-Founder and Honorary Chairman of AMC and Dean Emeritus of Dartmouth Medical School (now the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth).
“Dr. Strickler was at the heart of AMC’s founding and early development,” said AMC Executive Director Rina Demiri Spahija. “His commitment to maternal and newborn health continues to shape our mission today, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”
Dr. Strickler played a key role in supporting efforts to strengthen maternal and newborn health services in Kosovo. Following the war, he helped establish and support a long-standing collaboration between Dartmouth and health institutions in Kosovo that continues to this day.
AMC said in a statement that it extends its condolences to Dr. Strickler’s family, friends and colleagues, and remains committed to continuing the work he started. The Neonatology Clinic of the University Clinical Center of Kosovo also expressed its respect and appreciation for his contributions to newborn care in Kosovo.
