The Sixth Annual ‘Meet Us Halfway’ in New York Raises Over 68,000 US Dollars.

The spirit of generosity and unwavering support for the mothers and children of Kosovo unfolded once more at the “Yale Club Grand Ballroom” in New York, USA, on October 21st, 2022. After a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the “Meet Us Halfway” event raised over 68,000 USD.
These funds so generously donated by well-wishing supporters from the business, political and cultural community of the Albanian Diaspora in the US will be used to acquire medications and medical equipment for the public health institutions in Kosovo through the programs managed by the Foundation Action for Mothers and Children (AMC).
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Elizabet Peraj, AMC Board Member in the USA, emphasized the mission of the AMC, its work and commitment to improving the health of mothers and children in Kosovo. Mrs. Peraj expressed her gratitude to all those who were present at the fundraiser and all those who support the cause of AMC.
The AMC Executive Director, Mr. Vlorian Molliqaj, highlighted how the role of philanthropy can bring fundamental changes in Kosovo, especially in strengthening the health system. He pointed out the importance of relationship building between the philanthropic communities in Kosovo and the USA. “Increased funding helps reduce infant and maternal mortality in Kosovo,” he said.
In a video, AMC presented its key achievements over the past years: lives of thousands of babies saved, thanks to medical equipment and medications donated by the AMC to the public health institutions in Kosovo.
The event was a huge success thanks to the unwavering support and commitment of the co-hosts: Mrs. Elizabet Peraj, Board Member; Mr. Valon Xharra, Vice Chairman of the Board, and Mr. Fadil Berisha, Friend of the Foundation. In recognition of the extraordinary contribution and inspiring work for mothers and children, the ‘2022 Lifetime Contribution Award’ was presented to Mr. Valon Xharra.
A silent auction was held at the event featuring dresses by Kosovar designers and handmade jewelry by Kosovar artists.
