“Let’s dance for mothers and children” event comes again in Kosovo!

Prishtina, 13 September 2016-
Under the motto that is already known to all, we’re organizing the annual fundraising event “Let’s Dance” for the second year in a row to be held on September 22, Square 21 in Pristina, starting at 20:00.
Funds raised from this event will fund health programs in gynecological/obstetric clinics, neonatal intensive care units and pediatric clinics taking care of children suffering from leukemia, heart disease, asthma and other diseases.
Last year, this event raised over € 24,000 from company sponsorships and ticket sales. “Thanks to the funds raised from the evening of Let’s Dance 1, hospitals and health care centers in Kosovo have more resources to treat babies born prematurely or suffering from serious diseases, as well as mothers at risk,” says Mrika Aliu, Executive Director of “Action for Mothers and Children.”
The support from last year helped us realize so many activities this year including that of delivery of 300 vials of surfactant, an essential medication that helps premature babies develop lungs and breathe, deliver 5 photo-lamps for jaundice treatment in babies, and open two addition women’s health resource centers in Mitrovica and Sterpce so that more women can have access to evidence-based counseling.
“This year, we aim to raise more funds to expand our support to maternal and child health facilities,” continues Ms. Aliu. The plan for this year is to provide cardiopulmonary monitors used to measure breathing in babies, continue delivery of surfactant and many other medications needed to save children, to provide equipment for the transport system of newborns, as well as expand women’s health resource centers.
“We invite you all to join us. The Let’s Dance evening is held on September 22, Square 21, starting from 20:00. The price of entry is € 30 per person and includes drinks, food and music performance from String String, Gamblemania and other artists. The money collected from tickets will directly support our programs, as event expenses are covered in-kind,” says Ms. Aliu.
The organization is supported by numerous sponsors. Crimson Capital is the platinum sponsor and co-organizer of the event. Gold sponsors are BPB, Banka Ekonomike, NLB Prishtina and Bechtel Enka. Silver sponsors are Hoffman La Roche, Komot Pharm, 3CIS, Kep Trust and Solidar Suisse Kosovo. Bronze sponsors are Finca Kosovo, American School of Kosova and International Development Ireland.
