On 24.02.2023, the opening ceremony of the 15th center for women’s health “Classes for Mothers” was organized.  At the same time, the project “Group Care in the first 1000 days” was launched at the Main Center of Family Medicine “Mother Teresa” in the municipality of Vitia.

The opening of the “Classes for Mothers” center in the Municipality of Vitia also marks the 15th location of this program where, so far, over 10,000 women have benefited from health services from this project.In this event, the mayor of Vitia, Mr. Sokol Haliti, director of health, director of the KKMF in Viti, mrs. Dr. Vjollca Kadolli, the executive director of AMC, Mr. Vlorian Molliqaj, Mr. Neil Taylor – from the EBRD, and Ms. Marlies Rijnders Program researcher and expert within the “Group Care in the First 1000 Days” project.

“Classes for Mothers” is realized thanks to the support of the EBRD Community Initiative and the good cooperation with the Municipality of Viti as well as with the Main Center of Family Medicine “Mother Teresa”. This project is an initiative of the Action for Mothers and Children foundation as part of educational programs for maternal and child health in Kosovo and aims to support the improvement of health care provided to mothers and children, the changes that occur during pregnancy, breastfeeding, prenatal and postnatal care, vaccination etc.
At the same time, the program “Group care in the first 1000 days” was launched today at the Viti Health Care Center. After training the health staff (midwives and nurses) from this center for this program, the implementation of group sessions with pregnant women will soon begin. Group care during the first 1000 days is intended for pregnant women to overcome their problems or worries that they encounter during pregnancy together by learning from each other’s experiences and from the various advice given by health professionals for a pregnancy as healthy as possible.
