Prishtina, 22 January 2016-

The representatives from the Main Family Medicine Center in Ferizaj, Dr. Drita Lumi and Selvije Bislimi, together with the representatives from “Action for Mothers and Children” visited today the municipality of Shterpce and were hosted by the director of the department for health and social welfare in this municipality.

This visit aimed to discuss about opportunities to set up a new Women’s Health Resource Center in the municipality of Sterpce which can serve the communities coming from both Albanian and Serbian ethnicities and encourage cooperation. The representatives from the Main Family Medicine Center in Ferizaj brought their experience in having such a center set up in March 2015 and how it is improving the quality indicators of the services of Family Medicine Center 2 in Ferizaj where the center is located. Dr. Drita Lumi and Selvije Bislimi encouraged setting up such a center in Sterpce and offered their full support and knowledge-sharing throughout the process.

The medical staff in the Family Medicine Center in Drajkovc, where the opportunities to set up the center were considered, expressed their full willpower to set up a Women’s Health Resource Center within their facility which can serve both communities at the same time, raise awareness on antenatal and postnatal care, provide counseling to women and their families and integrate the patient-education services as part of their day-to-day services. This visit was also supported by the director of the department for health and social welfare in Ferizaj, Dr. Burim Karameta. A new Women’s Health Resource Center in Sterpce is coming soon.
