In an official ceremony today, the doors of Women’s Health Resource Center in Mitrovica open up in the Main Family Medicine Center. In the ceremony today, the Minister of Health, Dr. Imet Rrahmani, officially opened the doors of the Center and emphasized the importance of health education. “Maternal and child health remains top priority in our strategic work at the Ministry and such health resource centers are essential for women’s education on pregnancy and newborn care” – adds Rrahmani. The Minister thanked Action for Mothers and Children for their work well done for the health sector in Kosovo.
“This Center today marks the 5th location of Women’s Health Resrouce Center, a program initated by our foundation. Up to date, more than 2500 women have benefited from the services received at those Centers. Last month we opened the Center in Sterpce, a year ago we opened two in Prishtina and one in Ferizaj. Those Centers are run from nurses and midwifes of the host facilities,” – says Mrika Aliu, the Executive Director at Action for Mothers and Children.
The set up of the Center in Mitrovica and expansion of services of the Women’s Health Resource Center is made possible by the support from the Australian Embassy and the fundraising event “Let’s Dance for Mothers and Children.” The educational program of the Women’s Health Resource Center is supported by the World Health Organization-office in Prishtina, while the network of these centers is supported by Solidar Suisse Kosova.
