The annual event “Cycle Kosovo for Children” raised around 9000 Euros

The annual event “Cycling Kosovo for Children” organized for the sixth year in a row was attended by around 30 cyclists on the 4-day trip around Kosovo in support of the foundation “Action for Mothers and Children” was completed successfully. The ride took place around Kosovo, with a short deviation to Albania, passing through some of the largest cities for 4 days. The total distance was over 600 km with over 7,000 meters of climbing with the starting and finishing point in Prishtina.
This year’s event was able to raise around 9,000 Euros through the contributions of companies and individuals who supported cyclists’ challenge, the online campaign at KosovaIdeas, as well as the end-of-tour fundraiser held at Miqt Pub upon cyclists’ return. The funds raised will be used to buy hospital beds for babies at the Neontology Clinic in Mitrovica. Since premature babies have to stay longer at the hospital because of their prematurity and the need of intensive care, they need hospital beds to be put for safe medical examinations. In Mitrovica there are not enough beds to fulfil the needs of the patients in the Neonatology Clinic, so the premature baby has to stay in the same bed with the mother which can be very dangerous for a baby who is low in weight and premature.
“We are grateful for all the donations this year and we are happy that with the funds we have raised along this journey we will help improve the efficiency of care provided to our newborns in Mitrovica,” said Albion Hadri, organizer of Cycle Kosovo for Children.
