Babies that experiencing respiratory problems, is because of the lack of survanta – a liquid layer inside the lungs. Babies usually do not start the production of survanta until a few weeks after they are born. When there is no sufficient amount of survanta the lungs collapse and premature babies can not breathe. Therefore, survanta is essential in preventing and treating RDS (Respiratory Distress Syndrome) and reduces the mortality rate caused by RDS. Over the past 10 years, the donations of Survanta have saved the lives of 1,800 premature babies in Kosovo.

The arrival of this life-saving medicament in Kosovo has been made possible by the charity events held in 2017 as ‘Let’s Dance’ in Prishtina, ‘Meet Us Halfway’ in New York, USA and the ‘Diaspora Dinner’ in Switzerland.
