AMC opened the 18th Information Center for Women’s Health and launched the “Group Care in the First 1000 Days” project in Fushë Kosovë.

Today, at the center of The Ideas Partnership (TIP) organization in Fushë Kosovë, AMC opened the 18th Information Center for Women’s Health and simultaneously launched the Group Care project in the first 1000 days.

This is a very special moment for us as the newly opened center is community based and aims to serve the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in this municipality. Given that the members of these communities live in much worse conditions compared to the general population in Kosovo, we consider that the opening of this center is a very important step towards addressing health inequalities and ensuring accessible health care for all .

“The opening of this center today and the launch of the group care project in the first 1000 days is a remarkable achievement for AMC, as this community-based center will serve the children, women and fathers of the Roma communities , Ashkali and Egyptian, who have disproportionately poorer health compared to the majority population in the country. Therefore we are committed to improving the health of these communities, in order to have a more equal society where everyone has access to quality health services in the country” – said the Executive Director of AMC, Mr. Vlorian Molliqaj.

The Women’s Health Information Centers program is an initiative of the Action for Mothers and Children foundation as part of the educational programs for maternal and child health in Kosovo and aims to support the improvement of health care provided to mothers and children, the changes that occur during pregnancy, breastfeeding, care before and after birth, vaccination, etc.

Whereas, the “Group Care during the first 1000 days” project aims for pregnant women to overcome their problems or worries that they encounter during pregnancy together by learning from each other’s experiences and from the various advice given by professionals on health for a pregnancy as healthy as possible.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported us in this effort, especially the Community Initiative within the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Union and the staff of The Ideas Partnership organization for their unparalleled commitment to achieving this result.

At the same time, we call on all women and fathers in this municipality to go to this center and get health information in order to have the healthiest pregnancy and parenting.
