
Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting

Positive Discipline is a parenting program that requires non-violent parenting to raise children. Through this program, parents create an educational approach that guides the childrens behavior while respecting their rights to a safe environment, protection from violence, and participation in their education. Through this program, parents have the opportunity to receive information about the developmental stages of their children, about how they feel and think, about their temperament and the consequences of corporal punishment on the healthy psychophysical development of children.
Positive Discipline is a program which for five years now is being implemented by Action for Mothers and Children in partnership with Save the Children in Kosovo. So far, this program has been implemented in Public Preschool Institutions in Prishtina, Community Based Preschools, Private Preschools, SOS Children’s Villages and in Mother Classes in Prishtina, Prizren, Mitrovica, Klina, Ferizaj and Obiliq.
During 2021 we have implemented PDEP program for eight (8) groups of parents. 64 PDEP sessions were held in five public preschools and Community Based Preschools in Prishtina: “Yllkat” with two groups, “Zogjte”, “Shtepia Magjike” and Akademia Lapsi and three WHRC such as Prishtina and Obiliq.
In WHRC Obiliq and Prishtina we have held 24 sessions of PDEP program. 168 children and 34 Parents, preschool teachers and parents benefited from the training.
In Public and Community Based Preschool there are 658 children and 66 parents and preschool staff who benefited from PDEP program.
In total 100 parents, medical staff and preschool teachers benefited from PDEP program and 826 children.
We have organized and held Follow up sessions with three groups of parents and teachers. In WHRC Mitrovica with two groups, and one group in the Community Based Preschool “Ngjyrat” in Hajvali, Prishtina Municipality.
