Born prematurely, Ajla and Lian were underweight and struggling to breathe on their own. They spent their first days in intensive care, supported by an incubator, CPAP to help keep their lungs open, supplemental oxygen and Survanta, a medication that helps underdeveloped lungs function properly.
With the care they received, the twins were able to survive and thrive. Their mother expressed deep gratitude to the healthcare workers who treated them and to AMC, whose work helped provide vital medication and equipment to the hospital.
Stories like Ajla and Lian’s show the lasting impact of closing critical gaps in neonatal care. By working with healthcare institutions to identify needs and with partners and supporters to procure and distribute essential medical aid, AMC has helped provide lifesaving care to thousands of premature babies across Kosovo.
