Since 2016, Action for Mothers and Children (AMC) has led the effort to establish a Neonatal Referral System (NRS) in Kosovo to help reduce the country’s high infant mortality rate by providing safe transportation for critically ill newborns in a specialized ambulance.
We worked with Dartmouth Medical School and the Fulbright Specialist Program to train medical staff and assess hospital readiness to implement the system. The development of the Neonatal Transport Guidelines was led by Dr. Mynevere Hoxha, providing a vital framework for standardized, high-quality neonatal care.
