Steven Ringer
Dr. Ringer received his BA in Chemistry and Biochemistry at Brandeis University and his MD and PhD ( Biochemistry) at Case Western Reserve University. He completed his Pediatric Residency at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital and Metropolitan General Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, and his Fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the Joint Program in Neonatology of Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital and Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Following fellowship, he spent the next 28 years leading the Division of Newborn Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, rising to the rank of Associate Professor of Pediatrics and serving as Chief of Newborn Medicine. In 2015 he moved to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center as Chief of Neonatology and Professor of Pediatrics at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. He has been actively involved in a number of areas of research and has highly committed to Global Health over the past 25 years, working in Vietnam, India and Ethiopia, and working directly with innovative Engineering programs in the development of technology for newborn care around the world. He has been actively involved in Neonatal Resuscitation and served as a member and then Co-chair of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program Steering Committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as a member of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation. Dr. Ringer also has a strong interest in Medical Ethics and completed a Fellowship in Medical Ethics at Harvard Medical School. He has served as an Ethics Consultant for over 25 years and for many years as Chair of the Ethics Committee at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and then at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. He combined his interests in Global Health and Ethics as principal investigator of an NIH-Fogarty funded Masters Program in Bioethics at Muhambili University in Tanzania.

Dr. Mentor Ahmeti has been a dedicated supporter of AMC and our mission to expand access to quality healthcare for women and children across Kosovo. As a board member, he will serve as a vital advisor as AMC continues its efforts to give every child in Kosovo the opportunity for a healthy start in life.”
Dr. Ahmeti is a trauma critical care and general surgeon and serves as the chief of trauma at Sanford Medical Center Fargo. He is the president of the North Dakota Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. His teaching and research have been shared in respected journals and he has led studies that advance patient care.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Ahmeti is committed to training the next generation of surgeons both in the U.S. and in Kosovo. As vice president for the U.S. at the Kosova College of Surgeons, he has worked with colleagues to launch the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS®) program and enhance trauma care across Kosovo.
