The 9th Annual \u201cLet\u2019s Dance\u201d celebration hosted by Action for Mothers and Children set a record by raising more than \u20ac40,000 in support of AMC programs that are saving lives and creating healthier futures in Kosovo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe funds raised will have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of so many women and children,\u201d said AMC Executive Director Rina Demiri Spahija. \u201cAccess to quality healthcare is not a privilege, it\u2019s a fundamental right and the foundation for a healthy future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s \u201cLet\u2019s Dance\u201d brought together a few hundred AMC supporters on September 23 at AMC Hall. It was a night of music, networking and celebrating with purpose. Highlights included a live performance by Florent Abrashi, winner of The Voice of Albania 3<\/em>, and an electrifying set by Adrian Berisha, whose vibes lit up this summer\u2019s Sunny Hill Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet\u2019s Dance\u201d is one of AMC\u2019s largest annual fundraisers and supports AMC programs, which include free cervical cancer screenings; home visits for pregnant women, new parents and their children; and providing vital medications and equipment to help public health institutions provide better care. AMC partners include the Ministry of Health, United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF<\/a>), United Nations Population Fund<\/a> (UNFPA) and the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives<\/a> (CFLI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Behare Zeqiri, one of the speakers at this year\u2019s \u201cLet\u2019s Dance\u201d event, shared the story of her  twin sons, who were among the first newborns to benefit from AMC\u2019s donations of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was a very difficult time for our family because we didn\u2019t know if they would make it, but after they received the therapy, they began to improve,\u201d Zeqiri said. \u201cToday, Orgesi and Orgeti are 19 years old, have finished high school, and have applied to become part of the police force. We are very proud of them and their journey. Thanks to God and thanks to AMC, today they are healthy\u2014and for me, that is the greatest gift in life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guests at this year\u2019s \u201cLet\u2019s Dance\u201d also heard from one of the beneficiaries of last year\u2019s event, which raised 27,000\u20ac to help provide insulin pumps and essential supplies for 10 children with type 1 diabetes. In a video message, Emi Uka, talked about what a huge difference the donated insulin pump has made for her 12-year-old son, Siar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBefore we got the pump \u2013 that Siar now has thanks to AMC and the donors \u2013 it was very difficult for us to go out,\u201d Uka said. \u201cToday, Siar can go out by himself\u2026I wish every child with diabetes had a pump, because the pump is not a luxury, it is a vital tool.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
