About 37,000 euros were collected from the Let’s Dance event and the diabetes campaign!
23.09.2024
Donors, supporters, and friends of Action for Mothers and Children (AMC) gathered at this year’s edition of the “Let’s Dance 8” event, a beloved tradition in our capital city.
The evening celebrated the spirit of community and brought together supporters of causes for the health and well-being of children in Kosovo.
We were honored with the presence of the mayor of the capital city, Mr. PĂ«rparim Rama, and Mrs. Kristale Ivezaj, as well as his cabinet. Additionally, guests included representatives from the Ministry of Health, organizations, and individuals from various fields.
In her opening speech, Rina Demiri Spahija, Executive Director of AMC, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all attendees for their continued support. She shared:
“While ‘Let’s Dance’ is known for its lively rhythms, this year’s theme, ‘Diabetes Doesn’t Stop Dreams,’ brings a different tone. This edition marks the beginning of a new chapter for AMC in support of new initiatives, specifically for children with diabetes.
For ten consecutive years, AMC has supported the Neonatology Clinic by supplying the Surfactant medication, which has played a crucial role in saving the lives of premature babies. The Surfactant is now included in the essential medicines list provided by the Ministry of Health. For this reason, AMC has opened a new path of advocacy and support for children. For the first time in Kosovo, AMC will support the Pediatric Clinic by providing the necessary medical equipment for children with diabetes.
Through the campaign ‘Diabetes Doesn’t Stop Dreams,’ AMC has already provided part of the Pediatric Clinic’s supply of medications worth €161,000, which are used for cases of hypercholesterolemia, and with the funds raised tonight, we will purchase equipment and consumables for children with diabetes, such as continuous glucose monitors. This donation will meet the needs of only dozens of children for an entire year, but next year, AMC has made fulfilling the needs of children with diabetes the center of its advocacy efforts. Additionally, the recreational-educational room for children receiving services at the Pediatric Clinic will be renovated.
During this event, two awards were presented: the ‘Champion for Mothers and Children Award’ was given to the organizers of ‘Cycle Kosovo for Children,’ recognizing their dedication and extraordinary contribution to supplying medical equipment to pediatric, neonatology clinics, and hospitals across Kosovo.
The ‘Courage Award’ was given to young Jara Hasolli, a new athlete who, despite being diagnosed with diabetes, continues to pursue her dreams. Her mother shared their inspiring story of facing the daily challenges of diabetes. This story touched the hearts of all attendees, showcasing the resilience and strength of family support while also calling for institutional backing.
The much-anticipated evening was accompanied by unlimited food and drinks for all guests, with a warm atmosphere and beautiful music from Dren Abazi and the Zig Zag Orchestra, as well as DJ Wise.
The event left attendees inspired and united in their commitment to advancing AMC’s mission for a healthier future for the children of Kosovo.
AMC appreciate and thanks all the donors of this edition, as well as all individuals who purchased tickets and made donations.
